Summer is right around the corner, and you know what that means! Time to get you grill going, gas up your lawnmower, and enjoy some Del’s! While you get your mind ready for summer, it’s also time to get your plumbing ready too! Not sure where to start? We have a few tips to get you well on your way:
- Inspect all your appliances and fixtures. Winter may be long gone, but that doesn’t mean your pipes can’t leak (and flood). Go around your house and test each water source to ensure connections aren’t loose. Washing machine hoses are particularly vulnerable to leaks, so be sure to give them priority.
- Check (and lower) your Water Heater. Summer is a great time to give your water heater its yearly check. Because of the warmer weather, it takes less to heat your home’s water, so you’ll want to lower its thermostat to 120F. Your bank account will thank you.
- Clean out your gutters. As you can probably imagine, fall and winter are not too kind to your gutters. Between leaves, dirt, and other debris, your gutters can get pretty gross, so now is prime time to give them a cleaning. If you don’t, heavy rains can overflow onto your roof and foundation, causing some serious structural damage. Time to get your ladder!
