3 Tricks to Keep Your House Warm This Winter (Affordable DIY tricks) – GREENWOOD BLOG DEC 2017

Whether you like it or not, winter is coming. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as long as you have the proper preparation. If you have the proper preparation, keeping your house warm this time of year should not be an issue. We have curated a list of 3 DIY tricks that will help keep your house nice and warm.

Trick 1: Use Your Curtains

Now this may sound like a silly thing to do, but using your curtains can be very effective in keeping your house warm. The sun is an amazing free source of heat, opening your curtains during the day to let as much sun through your windows as possible can be quite efficient. Shutting your curtains at night is the most important part about this method the curtains act as insulation. If you want a super simple way of keeping your house warm this can be an option.

Trick 2: Move Your Sofa Away from The Radiator

Having your sofa in front of your radiator may feel nice and seem like a practical option, but unfortunately, that’s not the best spot to get the most efficiency of keeping your house warm. Instead, that’s absorbing heat that can be heating your home. Moving your sofa away from the radiator is a better option for maximum efficiency.

Trick 3: Use Timers on Central Heating

Programming your heater to be on a little earlier than when you need it say 30 minutes before you wake up can be more efficient than turning it on when you need it on high. It’s cheaper this way. The boiler heats up at a constant speed. Just don’t make the mistake of leaving your heat on low all day because you’ll be paying for heat when you don’t need it.
